About us
Libertyland Axolotl Rescue is the first and only axolotl‑exclusive 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue organization in the United States. Based in southeastern Massachusetts, Libertyland operates through a trained foster network to ensure each axolotl receives individualized, species‑specific care in a stable home environment.
Our mission centers on Education. Rehabilitation. Adoption.
Education We provide accessible, evidence‑based resources and community outreach to schools, aquarium clubs, and the public to promote responsible axolotl care.
Rehabilitation We offer supportive, species‑specific foster care for axolotls who benefit from stabilization, recovery, or long‑term monitoring. Veterinary oversight is provided by our Medical Director, Dr. Stella Sheputa of Whole Pet Vet.
Adoption We place axolotls into informed, committed homes that understand and meet their long‑term husbandry needs, ensuring stability and responsible ownership.
Through community partnerships and accessible resources like our Axolotl Care Guide, Libertyland empowers axolotl keepers and advocates to protect and support this unique species.
