To ensure every axolotl finds a safe, loving home, we ask adopters to meet a few key requirements:

• 🐠 A cycled tank or a clear plan to tub and cycle before arrival

• 🧪 Basic equipment: filter, thermometer, hides, and water testing supplies

• 🧑‍🎓 Willingness to learn — prior experience is welcome but not required

• 📝 Agreement to our adoption terms and care standards

Our application helps us match axolotls with the right homes. You’ll be asked to provide:

• 📸 Photos of your tank or tub setup

• 🧾 Contact info and basic household details

• 🧠 Experience level and care knowledge

• 🧍 References (optional but helpful)

Complete applications are reviewed first. If you’re missing something, don’t worry — we’ll follow up and help you get ready.

Once we receive your application, here’s what happens:

• 🔍 We review your setup, care plan, and fit for available axolotls

• 📅 You may be contacted for a quick check-in or clarification

• 🐾 We’ll suggest axolotls that match your experience and preferences (or confirm that your desired axolotl is a good fit)

Review typically takes 3–7 days. We’ll keep you updated and let you know next steps as soon as we can.

Adoption fees help cover intake care, vet checks, and ongoing rescue operations. We have a standard adoption fee of $100 (this does not cover shipping costs).
