Cooler Return Program
Reuse. Reduce waste. Support the Rescue.
Every axolotl we ship travels in a medical-grade insulated cooler designed to keep them safe and temperature stable during transport. Many adopters have asked how they can return these coolers so they can be reused instead of thrown away. We’re excited to announce that the Libertyland Cooler Return Program now makes that possible.
Returning your cooler helps us reduce waste, lower supply costs, and keep more resources focused on animal care. Participation is completely optional, but always appreciated.
How the Program Works
Step 1: Clean and dry your cooler
Make sure the cooler is fully dry before packing it.
Step 2: Check the condition
We can only accept coolers that are uncracked, odor free, and free of mold or residue.
Step 3: Ship the cooler back
All cooler returns must be sent to the rescue’s main return address. We cannot accept cooler returns at volunteer home addresses.
Step 4: Choose your return benefit
When you send your cooler back, you may choose either:
A credit to use on a future purchase
A donation receipt
Your Return Benefit
Each returned cooler earns one of the following:
A five dollar credit that can be used toward future purchases such as food, supplies, or merchandise
or
A five dollar donation receipt that you can use for your records.
Credits do not expire. One benefit is issued per cooler. You can indicate your preference when you send your cooler back.
Shipping Information
Please ship your cooler to the rescue’s official return address:
Libertyland Axolotl Rescue
4640 Acushnet Ave
New Bedford, MA 02745
Please note that this is a shipping address only; the rescue does not have a physical location or center open to the public. Currently, we cannot accept cooler returns at volunteer home addresses. Centralizing returns ensures safe storage, predictable processing, and accurate application of credits or donation receipts.
You may reuse the original outer box if it is still in good condition. If not, any appropriately sized box is fine.
What Happens to Returned Coolers
Returned coolers are inspected, sanitized, and added back into our shipping rotation. This reduces the number of new coolers we need to purchase each month and keeps usable materials out of the waste stream.
Coolers that cannot be reused are recycled whenever possible.
Program Limits
To keep the program manageable, we currently accept up to twenty cooler returns per month. If we reach capacity, we will temporarily pause returns until space opens again. This helps us maintain safe storage and efficient processing.
Thank You
Every returned cooler directly supports the rescue. It reduces costs, reduces waste, and keeps more of our budget focused on the animals who need us most. We are grateful for every adopter who chooses to participate.
