Introducing the Libertyland Axolotl Rescue Educational Coloring Book!

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our brand‑new Educational Axolotl Coloring Book, created to help kids, classrooms, and axolotl‑loving families learn all about these incredible animals in a fun, accessible way.

This project brings together everything Libertyland Axolotl Rescue stands for—education, rehabilitation, and responsible care—in a format that’s engaging for all ages. The book features original illustrations by Cora Harlin, paired with simple, science‑based facts that teach readers what makes axolotls so special.

What’s Inside the Coloring Book

The pages explore axolotl biology, behavior, and conservation through friendly, easy‑to‑understand snippets such as:

  • Axolotls come in many different morphs, with genetics determining their colors and patterns.

  • They can regenerate limbs, parts of their spinal cord, and even portions of their heart and brain — one of the reasons scientists study them.

  • Axolotls can breathe through their gills, skin, and lungs, and they keep their youthful features their entire lives.

  • In the wild, axolotls live only in lakes near Mexico City, where habitat loss threatens their survival.

The book also highlights how rescues like ours help axolotls in need by providing safe homes, medical care, and rehabilitation.

Why We Created It

As a New England–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Libertyland Axolotl Rescue is committed to making accurate, accessible education available to everyone. The coloring book supports that mission by giving families, teachers, and young learners a fun way to explore:

  • What axolotls are

  • How to care for them responsibly

  • Why conservation matters

  • How rescues play a role in protecting the species

The webpage emphasizes this purpose clearly: Libertyland is “focused on education, rehabilitation, and responsible axolotl care.”
